"Muti genre, multi-media artist. I sometimes mix elements of the human form into the landscapes I paint, and I often depict trees in my artwork as metaphors for the lives of individuals. The trunk represents the core of their being, who they are at heart. The roots are their beliefs, their support structure, the things that keep them grounded. Each branch represents the many aspects of a person’s life; their career, their family, their possessions, their relationships, and the shelter and shade they give to others. Organic and abstract shapes in tree branches illustrate transformation, not just once but many times in a person’s life as they must reinvent themselves, change and grow continually throughout life. Even broken branches become part of the beauty and design."
A lifelong artist, Monica’s work began selling in 1994. Gallery Directors from NY to FL are saying:
"...all of the work exhibits strength in the use of form, color and metaphor to convey ideology and emotion, resulting in work that is intellectually captivating and aesthetically balanced".
"...Monica Giglio has the canny ability to come up with just the right amount of variation in her "Tree" series to keep audiences enthralled. Her images evoke a mix of poetic mood and intense exuberance, suggesting at once the beauty of nature and the imagery of "Pop Art".
"...The way Monica digitally manipulates the (colors in) trees and the landscape is especially interesting. Her trees seem to transform into colorful matrixes…"
